The 6th Kings tournament takes place in Bucharest 7th-13th November 2012. The event had previously been due to be held in Medias 23 June - 4 July 2012 with Carlsen and Anand but was cancelled at the last minute. However the organisers said they were determined to hold the event and have now moved it to the capital of Romania Bucharest with the very reasonable field of Fabiano Caruana, Veselin Topalov, Vassily Ivanchuk and Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu. Play at 13:30 UK time on 7-9 and 11-13 Nov 2012. Round 1 on 7th Nov. Topalov vs Caruana and Ivanchuk vs Nisipeanu.
Ivanchuk wins playoff for 6th Kings title (6)
Vassily Ivanchuk and Veselin Topalov played off for the 6th Kings tournament after finishing with identical records in every way (just one win apiece against Nisipeanu) in the main tournament. Both final round 6 games were drawn otherwise Caruana would have joined them in a 2x15m+3spm and maybe blitz playoff (5m+3spm) and Armageddon playoff. Topalov lost on time a pawn up in the first rapid game with white. Ivanchuk only needed a draw with white in game 2 to win the title which he achieved reasonably easily.
