The MVM Cup in Budapest managed to escape the flooding in Europe and saw Bartlomiej Macieja beat Judit Polgar. The game saw one of those blunders in the final game which everyone hopes to avoid. The French and Icelandic championships take centre stage this week. The games from the Sudak where Sergej Karjakin earned his record breaking final GM norm are also now available.
Hope you enjoy this issue.

The 2nd CMA Futurity took place in Toronto August 12st-21st 2002.
David Cohen reports: 14 year old IM Mark Bluvshtein tied for first with GMs Arencibia, Shulman and Tyomkin, after he was held to a last round draw while the GMs won their final games. The Chess'n Math Association's second Futurity provided top Canadian juniors the chance to play against established masters. It was held alongside the Ontario Women's Championship, won by 2002 Women's Olympic Team member Dina Kagramanov (5.5/6 ahead of WFM Belc and 11 year old Hazel Smith); and the Bernard Freedman Memorial, won by NM Evgeni Miller (8/9).
