In a Press Release in Tamil it is announced that after a meeting between Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov they are to find the money (Rs.20 Crore) from Tamil Government funds to bid for the World Chess Championship match which would be held in Chennai April - May 2012. This follows the news that Moscow is to bid for the match also. I do not know if this meeting in Indian means that Chennai is a done deal or not, the source for this story is talking like it is. At a subsequent meet-the-press, held at the Russian Cultural Centre in Chennai on July 13, 2011, J.C.D. Prabhakar, President of the AICF announced the Chennai bid for the world title match which is likely to go through on July 31, 2011. Boris Gelfand was not aware of the bid in advance according to Arvind Aaron in the Hindu.
