Sergey Karjakin got a small measure of revenge by beating Ian Nepomniachtchi in a two game rapid (25 minutes) and four game blitz (4 mins + 2spm) match after a final Armageddon (6m-5m) playoff. The pair played off for the Russian Championships in December and in a reversal of positions Nepomniachtchi was the one to mess up a winning position with white and lose the match in the final game. This was for the title of Russian State Social University (RSCU).
